Thranduil understands Khuzdul because of his interactions with the Dwarves. As the Elvenking of the Woodland Realm, Thranduil has likely had dealings with Dwarves, who are known for their proficiency in Khuzdul. Additionally, as a wise and knowledgeable leader, Thranduil may have made an effort to learn the language of the Dwarves in order to facilitate communication and diplomacy between their two peoples. Understanding Khuzdul would also have allowed Thranduil to gain insight into Dwarven culture and history, which could be beneficial in his role as a leader. **

Elrond is older than Thranduil. Elrond was born in the First Age, while Thranduil was born in the Second Age. This makes Elrond several thousand years older than Thranduil. **

Legolas is around 2931 years old at the time of the War of the Ring, as he was born in the Third Age 87. Thranduil, the Elvenking of Mirkwood, is much older, being born in the First Age, making him over 6500 years old. Elrond, the Half-elven Lord of Rivendell, is also very ancient, being born in the First Age and living through many significant events in Middle-earth, making him over 6000 years old. **

My question about Thranduil in The Hobbit 2 is about his motivations and actions. I am curious about why he is so determined to keep his kingdom isolated and not get involved in the conflicts of Middle-earth. I also wonder about his treatment of the dwarves and his overall character development in the film. Additionally, I am interested in understanding his relationship with his son, Legolas, and how it influences his decisions and actions throughout the movie. **

Thranduil, the Elvenking of Mirkwood, could potentially appear in the Lord of the Rings series, as he is a prominent character in J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle-earth lore. Thranduil is the father of Legolas, who is a member of the Fellowship of the Ring, and has connections to other key characters in the series. His presence could provide additional depth and context to the events of the story, particularly in relation to the Woodland Realm and its involvement in the larger narrative. However, it ultimately depends on the creative direction and adaptation choices made by the producers and writers of the series. **

No, I don't have any more questions about Thranduil in The Hobbit at the moment. Thank you for asking! **

In The Hobbit, Thorin and Thranduil have a tense conversation when Thorin demands that Thranduil return the gems and treasure that he believes belong to the dwarves. Thranduil refuses, and the two leaders exchange heated words, with Thorin accusing Thranduil of being greedy and selfish. The conversation highlights the underlying tensions and conflicts between the different races in Middle-earth, as well as the struggle for power and wealth. Ultimately, their conversation sets the stage for the larger conflicts that unfold in the story. **

The name of Legolas' mother, the wife of Thranduil, is not mentioned in J.R.R. Tolkien's works. She is not named in "The Lord of the Rings" or "The Hobbit." This character is not a prominent figure in the stories, and her absence in the narrative leaves her identity a mystery. **
